RE: Ideas to make RV's more efficient. (on target, no rants)

If you are looking for strictly concept ideas.
I have one nightmare that haunts me from time to time regarding class A's. How about a shape simalar to an apachie helicopter with the lone driver foward of a wedge that increases wider at the back.
Also how about a twin engine design were an extra engine could be used for acelerating or climbing hills and then shut down once at cruising speed. I know at 55 I am not using all of my 454 but it still burns the gas.
As I said just a concept nightmare.
Please don't blast me on this.
Not blasting. :) To preserve the same amount of interior space, you would have to make the motorhome longer to accomodate the "wedge". Longer motor home equals more weight (all other things being equal).
I'm glad to see a thread like this.

RE: What's wrong with this picture?

Looks like a "back in the country" installation of 30 years ago. Some good ole boys helped a neighbor build an RV park. But in todays world you'd think that someone would have reported this bad judgment to the county.
We're talking about Missouri. The county inspector is probably the owner's cousin/brother. :)

RE: sneek peek at my latest mod

You live in Corona, huh? Not too far from me. Got room to park my motor home while you do some "mods" on it? LOL
Very nice job. This is not meant in a negative way at all, but how long does it take to setup/tear down? I have to believe you made it as painless as possible.

RE: Caution: Myrtle Beach / Lakewood

Sorry, but if you are going to have a campground with 2000 sites, that's even more reason that you should have adequate security patrols. You should know what is going on.
I know security patrols won't eliminate theft, but it will discourage it.

RE: One more bank gone.

Over the years I have lived through situations that left me with a feeling of gloom and doom. And guess what? Every time I was wrong. Here's hoping that we are all wrong this time too.

RE: Houston . . . We have a problem!

Past Friday night we saw a motor home with it's front generator slide tray partially open. He pulled out from a side street and was going the same direction as us, so we slowed down. But he made a right turn before he got to us and there was nothing we could do.

RE: Anaheim Rally April 17-19 2009

From what the Register had in it today, the police stepped in this time. The crowds got too large and evidentially there was too much drinking and extra nudity.
Sounds like the event has gotten too big. Bummer. I think it has been around for more than 10 years.
But after the police left, some of them regathered and continued.

Interstate U2200 batteries

I am shopping by internet for (4) Interstate U2200 6-volt batteries to replace my coach batteries.
I am in Southern California and the local RS supply store wants $139.00 each and $90.00/hour to replace them. Dealer wants $145.00 each and $110.00 to replace them.
I can't find any batteries on Walmart/Costco/Sam's Club websites.
If anyone has purchased them recently, can you tell me what you paid? And can anyone suggest where I might find them?
Thanks

Work, work, work.
Oh yeah, and watch the Tour de France.
Dave, don't let Sue take home any of those little piggies they have there every year. They go oink, oink, oink all the way home you know.

RE: Pre-purchase questions

Insurance is impossible to "estimate" for someone else. A lot of it depends on your driving record. But you can contact firms such as Progressive and get a quote. You may even be able to do it online for some of the firms.

RE: Anaheim Rally April 17-19 2009

I don't want to brag or anything, but our 19" LCD fits under the bed for traveling. Try that with your 32!!!
Yeah, I heard you hide some small things in the bedroom.
Maybe if we place a bulk order on 60" LCD's we could get a better price. But I forgot to ask "someone" if the job will involve power tools. You know I'm not allowed to operate power tools.

RE: Need help with an electrical concern!

Working on a RV you run into both AC and DC circuits...Just as when you work on a car you should unhook the battery cable to keep from possibly shorting out wiring while you work on it, An electrician will kill power to the circuit while he is repairing a problem in a house. If you drop a wrench, pinch or cut a wire on a cars system the voltage won't be much...may be a blown fuse...If you cut into live 110 ac the out come is much more terrible...It is just a safety issue...An ounce of prevention will go a long way
Sad but true story. About six months ago a neighbor was working on his house which was being renovated. He was in the crawl space, put a wrench to a water pipe, and was electrocuted. Seems there was a bare wire somewhere making contact with the pipes.

RE: Anaheim Rally April 17-19 2009

Tom, yea, yea... someone else will be getting a new TV in the semi-near future too since the current one seems to be falling backwards. Maybe 2 like someone else we know.
Chuck, it all depends on your perspective. From the side = rectangle, front = square
Well if "someone" does decide to replace their TV, I would be willing to assist that "someone" so I can see how it's done. Just in case, you know?

RE: $190 per month for RV storage, So. Cal.

I made my own. Took out all the grass/bushes down beside my house and partly behind. Added gravel. There is enough room for the camper, boat, enclosed trailer, utility trailer and my truck. If I win the lottery I will pave it. :B
DJ,
Sounds like what we did when they banned parking on the street. We also took out the pool, redid our backyard so it's more liveable.
Outdoor storage was about $100.00/month before the cities starting banning street parking. Now it's close to $200.00/month.
